I found this video on a friend of mine’s journal.

“She’s not a journalist anymore, is she?”

Because nothing says equality like watching two male anchors destroy the credibility of a female anchor who wants to discuss actual news instead of Paris Hilton.

HI-larious. They sure put that little girl in her place, didn’t they?

I have no words. Only violent fantasies. Good thing I was conditioned to pretend I never get angry so I never have to speak up for myself…wasn’t Mika taught that? Poor thing.

Oh, wow. If I were her, I would have lunged over and strangled him on the air.

I googled the show Morning Joe and found that MOrning Joe Scarborough is being considered as Don Imus’ replacement. Fitting, no?

Oh. My. God. More googling showed multiple news stories which have twisted the entire fiasco to say that Mika Brzezinski refused to read the story, with no mention of the antics of the fucktards sitting next to her!

Actually, I prefer the emphasis to be on her refusal to read the story. Mika was standing up for journalistic integrity. I feel her principled action is more deserving of attention that those smucks’ sexism.

Just watched the newsclip. How disgusting! I’m from Canada, and newscasters would never get away with that kind of bullshit here. I don’t know the names of the people, but the guy on the right was especially nasty, trying to get everyone else in the studio to gang up on her. It wasn’t enough that his asshole crony in the control room played the Paris Hilton clip (clinching the guy the “win” in what should go on the air), but then the asshole started on about who great Hilton is, which was completely irrlevant! The guy in the control room should get fired (I’m guessing that the journalists outrank him as far as deciding what should be aired) and BOTH of the men should be made to apologize to Mika on air. Probably never happen, though.

I’m soooooo pissed from watching that. The guys could act like total assholes and not get disciplined, but she KNEW that if she talked back too much or got too far out of line, she could be easily replaced with another blonde cookie-cutter newsgirl. It’s so disgustingly obvious that she doesn’t have equal status. It was like a scene out of “Anchoman” (only without the redeeming message of equality at the end).

    Yeah. Totally. Disgusting. Ew.

I admire her for refusing to rehash all the dumb Paris Hilton stuff anymore. This entire broadcast made me wonder who the heck controls what gets put on TV. Walter Cronkite is rolling over in his grave right now, seeing how terrible newscasting has become.

How completely wonderful that what is getting around is Brzezinski’s name, and her choice. The idiots around her are being erased as so much background noise. As. they. should. be.

Maybe I, or everyone else, needs to watch that clip again. My impression was that Joe said she was no longer a journalist anymore after she started to read the Paris story (since they all seemed to agree that it wasn’t real news). He then encouraged her to not do the paris story as she should choose her own lead story. The fact that they wouldn’t let it go was juvenile but they seemed to be on the same side of the issue.

I’ve watched the clip MANY times. My read of the situation has been that she apologized because she didn’t want to read the story, but was overruled by her bosses. When Joe and friend began mocking her for not being a journalist, it wasn’t because she was reading the story but because she apologized for it beforehand.

Also, I REALLY don’t read him as encouraging in any way shape or form. He seems more to be after humiliating and degrading her.
