Ive struggled with weight and acceptance my whole life… to the point where i wouldnt want to go out, neurotic self loathing… reading your blogs and others is an exersice for me in trying to change my self hatred.
this morning as I am typing I was looking in the mirror to see my sitting down, rounded belly self and thought… hey, Im beautiful this body is beautiful… and I really SEE that. before it was just trying to force myself to see that… its a real breakthru it is so relieving to me like tension from my WHOLE life just… went away. I dont have to be anything other than what I am in fact its an act of Grace to accept what is. not only accept but to revel.
I'm on a mission here to let you know that fat people are not your enemy. And skinny people aren't your enemy either.
Here, the body is a political one no matter its size or shape. We are going to unpack society's standards of beauty, the oppression of the dominant social paradigm when it comes to body conformity, and talk about clothes. Maybe even makeup. Because I do love makeup.
Here, I hope, we will come to a place of acceptance. Acceptance for our own bodies and for the bodies of others.
