Hey, y’all, I’ll be speaking (if everything goes correctly) with Jim on Radio New Zealand tonight (June 1st) at 11:10pm, Orlando FL time. That’s 3:10 pm June 2 in New Zealand!

I think. *laugh*

You should be able to listen live on the Radio New Zealand site.

I’m listening right now from New Zealand – this is sounding really great. The interviewer is a bit too focused on the fact that at your weight your experience is somehow not typical but he’s being surprisingly sympathetic – maybe my standards are just too low from being disappointed too often by the media, but this really seems positive.

You sound very sure of yourself and very articulate – great job!

Also, arggggg the ‘omg fat causes type 2 diabetes’ ! I knew it had to raise it’s ugly head at some point.

Eeeee, Dessa, thanks for that! I was actually kind of nervous about this one as I wasn’t sure if I’d be fielding calls or not. I think Jim is very interested in this topic (maybe I can go back on and discuss this more? HINT HINT, JIM MORA *grin*) but is maybe still a little stuck at trying to find a line to draw between acceptable and unacceptable fat. He did get a good laugh out of death fat, though, at least!

I really should have watched the time better, though – it really, really flew past. I wanted to slightly change the subject on him – introduce the idea that HEALTH IS NOT A MORAL ISSUE and that, really, even if I WERE “unhealthy” by his standards, what would he expect me to do about it given the spectacular fail rate of diets?

All in all, though, talking with him was awesome and I am SO relieved to hear I didn’t sound bad! Thanks.

It was great to hear your voice. You sounded great. I think he asked some good questions, ones generally on peoples minds I guess. I like how you explained away the “morbid obesity” and being “fit”.

I almost got the impression he was concerned about offending you in the beginning but he got right in there. I’m glad men’s body issues were mentioned a bit.

The best you quote though. “You live your life. You do your thing. And you’re happy in spite of it. As best as you can be.”

    Congratulations Marianne!

It is up on the website, for downloading! (For those of you who missed it) I just searched the word “fat”, and it came up as the second result. :)

I heard you live over here in N.Z. and ended up sitting outside the store to listen to the whole interview. As a pleasantly plump, but fit 40 year old female who has my whole life stumped Drs. who are always seem to be looking to see if I some health issue they can attribute to my weight, I love hearing you speak about the issue so confidently. Also doesn’t hurt to hear it being said from a person from my home country. Thanks!
