Thank you all for being here with me for another year. It’s been amazing – all this practice at living is paying off, I think.
This is what 34 years old looks like, y’all!
Love!

ETA: This dress is vintage 60s (I think – it might be 70s, I can’t remember) Lane Bryant. It is the first thing I ever bought from Re/Dress – before there was a Re/Dress. I totally bought this from Deb at the Brooklyn Flea Market. Dead stock, what’s not to love?

Oh and Happy Birthday!
Thirty four looks pretty damn good if you ask me. Many happy returns! And many happy re-dresses!
Happy birthday pretty lady! I guess if 34 looks that good, I have only good things to look forward to. xo
Please support your sexy sisters by standing up for the Lane Bryant September catalog cover.
5 full-figured women are featured on the Sept catalog. They are topless. You can’t see anything, but the fat-haters are out in full force.
Why can’t fat women be as sexy as the Victoria’s Secret women?
The comments on the LB FB wall are full of hate and loathing.
The message should be empowering but the bullies are saying the photo is denigrating.
Hardly
They just don’t want so see fat women make strides in the sexy arena.
We are beautiful!
Please support the Sept. magalog cover!
I just saw that cover this morning and thought it was great! Go, Lane Bryant! Fuck the haters.
Ah, I remember 34 well! It’s a good age. Enjoy it!
Alas, I am far beyond 34 now. But still kickin’!
Happy bday! Enjoy your 30s; they’ll fly by.
Happy birthday! I’ll be 34 this year, too (November), and I’m kind of liking this age. And the mention of Re/Dress makes me want to ask you a question, but I don’t want to hijack you birthday thread. Hope you partied like it was 1999 (er, no….maybe 2012?)
Feel free to ask, please!
Happy Birthday from a fellow 34-year-old fattie.
Happy Birthday! (again, since I sent you birthday greetings via Twitter). I hope to be as happy and fabulous as you are when I turn 34! (I’ve got 8 years!)
HBD! (Belated.) You look fab in that dress. …And ach! I *SO* wish I could be 34 again!
Happy birthday to you!
Happy birthday to you!
You’re fat and you’re awesome,
And you’re beautiful too!
You’re kickass, Marianne, and I am so glad that you are here. The world needs you.
Happy Birthday, Marianne, and thank you for your blog. It makes me happy to open my Google reader and see a new post at The Rotund.
Happy birthday to my favorite blogger! Keep spreading truth!

There is NO way you are 34!! You look wayyyyyy younger. And rockin’ dress chica! I love it! I got linked to your blog through the blogroll of another I love. I hope you don’t mind if I do a post on you in the coming weeks on mine?
It’s a bit late, but Happy Birthday! (sometimes belated ones help keep the good times going)
Obviously I missed your birthday, but happy belated! I just discovered your blog and I’ve spent the last few hours reading. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate reading about all the joy you find in life (and fashion!) that has nothing to do with arbitrary standards of health and beauty.
34 looks terrific on you, as do your documented outfits. You’re an inspiration. I already feel a little more like maybe I can be beautiful too, without the ridiculous starvation diets that I tend to cycle through. Thanks so much for putting this out there, and so eloquently too.
I’m sure that you get lots of comments like this, but I just couldn’t NOT tell you how much I love this blog.
